Surfing, Sun, Party, Food & Wine (amazing & cheap)

I like going in November because the waves are relatively consistent and the weather is usually good. This is also when the international surf competition “Rip Curl Pro” is on at Supertubos.

Where to stay:
I usually booked an apartment through Airbnb or Baleal Rentals.

My favorite “local” Food:
Bacalhau (salted cod, cooked in hundreds of different recipes), octopus salad, fresh fish & seafood, Pasteis de Nata

My favorite Restaurants:
Taberna do Ganhao for Tuna Steak or Braised Octopus
Xakra Beach Bar for Octopus Salad, fresh fish or their Xakra burger (with egg)
Restaurante e churrasqueira A CASEIRINHA for grilled chicken, (big) steak, spare ribs or Bacalhau
PROFRESCO Peixaria & Restaurante for dressed crab, fresh fish and seafood

Grocery Shopping:
Pingo Doce for fresh fish and seafood
Intermarche for vegetables
Lidl for cheap deals and nice bread & Pasteis de Nata

Surfers Lodge for rooftop parties on Saturday evenings
Bar do Bruno
Bar da Praia
Danau bar often hosts live concerts and is open till late

How to get around
You can get a bus from Lisbon to Peniche, but I prefer to rent a car as it is easier to get around. My favourite rental firm is Goldcar, mainy because the cars can be picked up at the airport and no shuttle is needed. I usually book through Rentalcars.com.

What did I miss? What would you add? I’m happy to hear from you! Let me know here!

Eat. Surf. Sleep. Repeat. And enjoy those beautiful sunsets.. and the Surfing competition.
